Mussel farming
    Mussel farming is the intensive rearing of mussels, edible molluscs highly appreciated in gastronomy. The origin of the mussel farming began in the thirteenth century, when the Irish sailor Patrick Walton, legend or truth that is, in 1235 was wrecked in the Bay of Aiguillon, France. Wanting to capture the birds, of which he was a hunter, poles stuck in the water tending the nets. Over time he noticed that mussels on poles took root in large quantities, and realized that he could be a very lucrative source.
