The ROYAL DUTCH SHELL , better known simply as Shell , is one of the largest oil companies in the world, taking as a shell logo . The origins date back to 1897, when Marcus Samuel founded the British firm "The Shell Transport and Trading Company" , which was operating in the Caspian Sea , and in this case that was launched the first oil tanker in the world , called Murex . The choice of the name Shell (shell) stemmed from a passion for the shell inherited from his father , who in turn founded long ago, a company of import and export of shells and natural curiosities, which he sold to collectors in London. La ROYAL DUTCH SHELL, meglio conosciuta semplicemente come SHELL, è una delle maggiori compagnie petrolifere al mondo, assumendo come logo una conchiglia. Le origini risalgono al 1897 quando Marcus Samuel fondò la ditta britannica "The Shell Transport and Trading Company", che operava nel Mar Caspio, e in questo caso che fu varata la prima petroliera al mondo,battezzata Murex. La scelta del nome Shell (conchiglia) derivava dalla passione per le conchiglie ereditata dal padre che, a sua volta, fondò tempo prima, una ditta di import-export di conchiglie e curiosità naturali, che vendeva ai collezionisti londinesi. Curioso è che, a riguardo del logo, scelse la valva di una cozza, ma fu solo in seguito, nel 1904, che nacque il simbolo a noi tutti più familiare, il pettine di mare, forse da un'idea di una persona molto vicina a Samuel, un certo Grahams, per via dei pellegrinaggi al santuario di Campostela, in Spagna. Si dice anche che i colori dell'emblema derivano dalla bandiera della Spagna, per l'appunto il giallo e il rosso. Nel 1907 la ditta di Marcus Samuel si fuse con la ditta olandese "Royal Dutch Petroleum". Così nacque la ROYAL DUTCH SHELL che divenne poi, con il tempo, uno dei colossi mondiali del petrolifero. L'emblema della SHELL, il pettine di mare, è uno dei simboli commerciali più famosi al mondo. L'ultima versione, quella ben nota attualmente, fu disegnata dal creatore Raymond Loewy nel 1971, padre di tanti altri loghi famosi.
