But this is a human definition, we are sure that all molluscs agree? Let's start with the most well-known hybrid, the "amphitales", that is the hybrid between Cypraeovula capensis and Cypraeovula edentula.     Parliamo di ibridismo... Per ibrido si intende un organismo generato da due organismi di diversa specie, e di solito è sterile. Ma questa è una definizione umana, siamo sicuri che tutti i molluschi sono d'accordo? Ecco il mollusco ibrido più conosciuto, l'"amphitales" , cioè l'ibrido tra Cypraeovula capensis e Cypraeovula edentula.     The cases of hybridity are so common among Cypraeovula that hybrids in the past had been described as a species. Now take the case of C. capensis form elyzabethensis. As you can see, the elyzabethensis is the hybrid of the hybrid, while in fact "amphitales" is a hybrid between the edentula and capensis, the elyzabethensis is a hybrid between "amphitales" and capensis.     I casi di ibridismo sono così comuni tra le Cypraeovula che gli ibridi nel passato erano stati descritti come specie. E' il caso di Cypraeovula capensis form elyzabethensis. Come si può vedere, la elyzabethensis è l'ibrido dell'ibrido, infatti mentre l'"amphitales" è un ibrido tra edentula e capensis, l'elyzabethensis è un ibrido tra "amphitales" e capensis.
