curiosity number 004 Claudio Fanelli Roads of shells     In the atolls, the only available rock is formed by marine limestone created by colonies of coral and shells. They build roads grinding and paving material. It is also used as a building or rock to produce lime or other building materials. To repair the holes that are created with the use and over time, they collect directly from the barriers large quantities of shells that are paid in the valleys and then flattened with a roller.     Negli atolli l'unica roccia disponibile è costituita dal calcare marino creato dalle colonie di madrepore, da coralli e da conchiglie. Si costruiscono le strade frantumando e spianando questo materiale. Esso viene anche usato come roccia da costruzione o per produrre calce o altri materiali edili. Per riparare le buche, che si creano con l'uso e con il tempo, si raccolgono direttamente dalle barriere grandi quantità di conchiglie che vengono versate negli avvallamenti e poi spianate con un rullo.
