Pescara è la città nella quale, fin da ragazzo, raccoglievo conchiglie per alimentare la mia passione. Sono un medico ma da qualche anno sono salito alla ribalta dei forum di malacologia per un evento straordinario: il giorno dell'Epifania del 2007 qualcuno mi telefonò dicendo che sulla spiaggia, a poche centinaia di metri da casa mia, c'erano tante "piccole cipree". Giustamente scettico, in compagnia di un amico appassionato come me di conchiglie, una mezz'ora dopo ero sul posto.
Quello che si presentò ai nostri occhi aveva dell'incredibile. La foto, unica scattata con un limitatissimo telefonino, seppur bruttina, forse riesce a rendere l'idea. Non era altro che il risultato di un "ripascimento morbido" fatto nei giorni precedenti con un'infinità di metri cubi di sabbia prelevata al largo e letteralmente sparata sul nostro arenile per recuperare un pochino di spiaggia mangiata in precedenza dal mare. Ho fotografato una buona parte delle specie raccolte, più di 200, e spero di riuscire a terminare la loro classificazione e documentazione fotografica ma... Per farvi capire le dimensioni del fenomeno, mi basta dirvi che ho trovato più di 2000 di quelle "piccole cipree" (Trivia multilirata).

I photographed a good portion of the collected species, more than 200, and I hope to end their classification and photographic documentation but ... To make you understand the size of the phenomenon, I just tell you that I have found more than 2000 of those "small cowries' ( Trivia multilirata ).
