Notes: The monumental work done by the two authors began in 1879 and ended in 1927, as many as 45 volumes. The first 17 dedicated to marine mollusks and the remaining 28 to terrestrial molluscs. The latter were led by young Pilsbry: Tryon care only the first four volumes before his death in 1888. With an average of about 500 species per volume, have been described and illustrated about 20,000 species. Tryon gave the name to about 150 species while his assistant Pilsbry has created more than 2000 species.
Note:La monumentale opera realizzata dai due autori è iniziata nel 1879 e terminata nel 1927, ben 45 volumi. I primi 17 dedicati ai molluschi marini e i rimanenti 28 ai molluschi terrestri. Questi ultimi sono stati condotti dal giovane Pilsbry: Tryon cura solo i primi quattro volumi prima della sua morte nel 1888. Con una media di circa 500 specie per volume, sono state descritte e illustrate circa 20.000 specie. Tryon ha dato il nome acirca 150 specie mentre il suo assistente Pilsbry ha creato più di 2000 specie.
