Notes: The monumental work done by the two authors began in 1835 and ended in 1927, as many as 26 volumes. First three volumes were completed by Emil Adolf Rossmässler. The remainder of the work was edited by Wilhelm Kobelt. Kobelt wrote most of the volumes, but he was assisted with volume 17 by F. Haas. Volumes 14,16, and 23 are by P. Hesse, while volumes 21 and 22 are by J.A. Wagner. After the death of Kobelt (1916) P.Hesse and J.A. Wagner completed the works.
